- Original thoughts about updating the current amphitheater arose after a concert in the park in 2010: "Rock the Park! 2010"
- Group of citizens with interest in the Park met with architect to discuss the feasibility of an enlarged amphitheater in 2011
- Concept approved by Board of Aldermen of The City of Crystal Springs on March 1, 2011
- Evaluation of funding sources led to formation of CAFI in 2012 with application for recognition as a 501(c)3 corporation being approved in 2013
- Fundraising efforts were re-initiated after Board meeting in December of 2013
- "First Forty" fundraising initiative begun in the Spring of 2014 allowed CAFI to obtain concept renderings of the amphitheater project
- 2022 - State of Mississippi appropriated $500,000 for improvements at Chautauqua Park to include the Amphitheater project
- Fall of 2022 site preparation began
- 2023 - State of Mississippi appropriated $500,000 for Chautauqua Park to include the Amphitheater Project
- 2024 - Site preparation continues while architectural drawings are being completed
